Pitt edge out Duck in thriller!

Fraserburgh & District Pool League

THE quarter finals of the charity shield were played last Thursday, the closest match being played out at the Tufted Duck where the visitors, the Pittendrum, won the deciding frame to win 8-7, this despite Duck new boy Scott Stephen getting his first 8 ball clearance since his return to the league.

The tie of the round on paper between the top two in the league saw the current league leaders the Bellslea take a 5-2 lead at Enigma, but their hosts hit back to run out 8-6 winners.

In a ding dong battle up at the Elizabethan the Legion over came their hosts 8-5 to progress through to the semi finals. In the final tie Cheers received a walkover after the Drum once again failed to raise a team for the match.

Tonight's league fixtures are as follows, Cheers v Pittendrum, Bellslea v Elizabethan, Drum v Legion, Tufted Duck v Bancar and Enigma have a free week.

Top Break Pool Singles League

THOMAS Bannon came from 2-0 down to Allan Anderson to defeat him 5-3 and take him to within a point of winning season 2. Simon Donald lost out 3-5 to Jim Anderson on his return after injury.

Joe Sayers leapt up to third place in the league with two 5-3 wins, the first over Peter Lyons and the second over Calum Bruce, these results means Joe can also win the league if he beats Thomas Bannon in his first match and then defeats Allan Anderson in his second. John Sutherland tried in vain to slow down whirlwind Kevin Tocher going down 2-6.

Johann Sondergaard halted Ross Schaschke's run of seven wins in a row with a 4-4 draw. James Murphy made it nine draws in fifteen matches drawing 4-4 with Alex Davidson. Graham Fergusson had a good 6-2 win over the experienced Ron Senior.

Sam Aiken's poor run of results continued going down 3-5 to Paul Johnston. Terri Davidson got two matches as a result of there being an odd number of players, in her first she struggled against Ronnie Mair going down 2-6, but hit back with an impressive 7-1 victory over Joe Senior.
