Fish have gone deep at Delgatie

What a month April was at Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery.

The weather was very settled and fishing steady. The bright sunshine had it’s drawbacks, however, and the fish have gone very deep except early morning and evening when sport can be enjoyed on, or near the water surface.

During the day beaded lures and gold heads have been prevelant and good catches have been recorded at depth including the following:

P. Cowie of Fraserburgh (18 fish, black buzzer); J. West of Fraserburgh (18 fish, WSW/cats/fritz); I. Watt of Turriff (12 fish, dry fly); S. Anderson of Peterhead (12 fish, WSW); J. Flynn of Milltimber (13 fish, blobs/buzzer); A. Fernie of Milltimber (nine fish, blobs/buzzer); A. Gibson of Gardenstown (eight fish, various lures) and B,. Blacklaw of Ellon (eight fish, various lures).

Top among the junior anglers was Francis West, Fraserburgh with eight fish caught on fish on cat’s whiskers and fritz variations.

Dare we suggest that rain (at night only) would be welcome and help to freshen the fish and the water. Any rain in limited quantities only.

The fishery opening times are now 8am to 9pm and boats, rods and tackle are availalbe for hire. Booking not necessary.
