International boxing night set for 31st

Peterhead Boxing Club are hosting an evening of International Boxing sponsored by GGD Engineering Ltd and Argyll Scaffolding Ltd at the Palace Hotel on Friday, January 31, which will see a Scotland Select side compete against a tough England Select and will feature Buchan’s best home grown talent.

The contests will include reigning Scottish Champions Taylor Mills from Boddam and Sean Robertson from Mintlaw amongst others and the bill will be topped by Artur Selivanovs from Peterhead which will see him compete with no headguard following the new Olympic Boxing ruling for Elite athletes.

A spokesman from Peterhead Boxing Club said: “We’re buzzing about this one. We’re bringing up several English Clubs, one of which is the oldest Boxing Club in England and they’re really up for it.

“As always they’ll receive our very best hospitality which will see us cover their fuel costs, accommodation and meals during their visit, but believe me there will be no niceties in the ring as both Nations want to walk away with bragging rights.

“Our lads have been training hard and will be giving it their all on the night.

“The Palace Hotel has become renowned for its electric atmosphere at these boxing nights, and we’re hoping the crowd can get behind our lads to help spur them on and give them a competitive
edge.”

The evening will commence at 7pm sharp and will include 10 scheduled contests of international boxing, a plate of stovies served at the interval, a raffle prize draw, cash prize games, and an auction.

Tickets are priced at £20 each and are available from Peterhead Boxing
Club.
