North East MSP Christian Allard was delighted to show his support as the Queen’s Baton Relay made its way through Aberdeenshire last weekend.

Mr Allard was on hand to witness baton bearers carrying the Queen’s message as part of the build-up to the Commonwealth Games.

Christian Allard said: “Joining Aberdeenshire residents to cheer the baton bearers has been a terrific experience. I can really feel excitement for the Games beginning to build.

“I know that the baton was well received in Turriff and other towns and villages across Aberdeenshire. It is great to see some many people getting inspired by the Games.

“It is fantastic that people like Doug have been given this once in a lifetime opportunity to carry the Queen’s Baton. I was also delighted to see young people like Millie Low MSYP for Aberdeenshire East taking part in the relay and it was great to see John Chapman participating as well – he has done a lot of fantastic work for local community groups.”

“The Commonwealth Games will be a fantastic sporting occasion for communities to come together and get behind Scotland’s athletes competing on their home patch.”
