Swimmers do Broch proud at nationals

Last week Aberdeen played host to the countries top age group swimmers with the 2015 Scottish National Age Group Championships.

With over 900 competitors aged from 10 to 18 taking part in events covering all strokes and all distances over five days of competition, the Championships was certainly an exciting event.

Broch ASC had a tremendous 12 swimmers qualifying for this competition:

Ryan Downie, Shaun Maitland, Amber Moir, Iain Lovie, Jack Lovie, Luke Pearson, Hannah Sim, Leia Summers, Emma Thoirs, Jack Wallach, Jenna Wallach and Destiny West all took part in the national competition.

The heats were held during the morning and afternoon with the top ten making exciting finals held in the evening, day one saw Broch get off to a great start with Amber and Iain making their first National finals in the 50 back and 100 back respectively.

Day two saw another day of great swims including another fantastic personal best from the boys relay team.

Day three saw the girls relay team push hard and more finals for Luke with 200 fly, Iain for 200 back, first National finals for Ryan 50 breast and Leia 100 back.

Day four saw Emma in the 50 breast final and a Silver medal.

The last day could not have been more exciting with five swimmers through to finals, Emma for 100 breast, Luke 400IM and Ryan ,Iain and Shaun (first National final) 50 back .

Throughout the week there was a fantastic support group of friends and family which makes all the difference.

Broch finished 29th out of 81 teams which is an incredible achievement.
