World Under 25s Championships are set to come to Fraserburgh.

Fraserburgh Leisure Centre Indoor Bowling Club are proud to announce that they have received the honour of hosting the World Championship after many years of applying.

A club spokesman said: “We are frequently congratulated on the standard of our stadium and the hospitality that we provide by many visiting delegates.

“We are proud to receive the honour to host such a prestigious event and as to my knowledge it has never been held in the North of Scotland before.”

There will be 24 players taking part in the tournament who are travelling from different countries to take part.

Many local businesses have been kind enough to help the Broch club cover the cost of the travel and accommodation costs for the players, for which it is very grateful.

Also attending the event will be The Honourable Kate Nicholson and many local councillors and dignitaries have also agreed to attend the opening and closing ceremonies to support Fraserburgh and the club’s achievement.

The event is due to take place from Tuesday next with the opening ceremony starting at 9:30am and will end on Friday around lunchtime.

Tickets for the event are now on sale at £2 per person daily or £5 for the week’s access.

There are members from other clubs coming to the event and the hosts would be delighted if the people of Fraserburgh would also come along and support it during the tournament.

The spokesman continued: “With Fraserburgh’s support we are sure that this event can be a great success and receive the recognition for our area and put us on the map for future championships.”
