The results of the second Monthly Competition of the year were announced at the meeting of Fraserburgh Photographic Society on November 8.

The judge was Vivien Cotton LRPS a member of Edinburgh Photographic Society. In 2010 she published a book of her photographs of the Lake District.

The winning image with a maximum score of 20 was Stuart Fenty’s ‘All Aboard!’ a picture of a steam train at Boat of Garten. Vivien described it as having pleasing tones and balance.

Second was ‘Calando’ by Alister Henderson with 19 points. The judge commented it was beautifully exposed.

Third with 18 points was ‘Bow Fiddle Rock’ by Mike Chandler. Vivien said it was a lovely, tidy composition with rocks both on left and right as ‘bookends’ to the image. She added it had beautiful tones in the sky, from the subtle blue to the soft peach colour.

At the next meeting on November 14, the Fraserburgh Photographic Society will focus on apertures.
