Councillor Ian Tait has said the Brochers he has spoken to have been entirely against changing the colour of the town centre statue.

Commenting, Cllr Tait said: “They thought painting it would make it look ‘tacky’ and it would cost money because the paint would soon chip and show signs of wear and have to be maintained continually.

“They also asked the question; would they also advocate that the beautiful sculpture in Peterhead should be given pink petticoats?”
