Visitors to Peterhead’s Arbuthnot Museum are set to encounter the metal stars of the big screen during May in an exhibition entitled Robot.
The exhibition is part of a year long programme of events from Aberdeenshire Council Museum Service, with assistance from Museums Galleries Scotland, and features costumes, props and full size replicas of robots, cyborgs and androids from film and television. There will also be a wide-ranging collection of robot toys on display.
Visitors will be able to get up close to replicas of robots from cult science fiction shows such as ‘Lost in Space and Star Trek’, as well as films ranging from ‘Iron Man’ to ‘Star Wars’.
The exhibition also features a ‘Kryten’ costume worn by actor Robert Llewellyn in the BBC TV series ‘Red Dwarf’, and a reference piece used during the production of Michael Jackson’s ‘Moonwalker’ film.
Robots opens on Saturday, 4 May with a fun day of activities from 11am-3pm including a special effects make-up workshop. Visitors will also be able to take part in a Design a Robot competition in association with Peterhead Cinema. Prizes will include tickets to see ‘Iron Man 3’ (cert. 12A) and ‘Oblivion’ (cert. 12A).
