The last December meeting of Fraserburgh Photographic Society was to receive the results of the themed competition ‘Natural History’.

The judge was Graeme Buchan of Elite Photography, Finlayson Street, who was present at the meeting.

Mr Buchan holds the Licentiateship of the British Institute of Professional Photography and is a Licentiate of the Master Photographers Association.

The top three were as follows:

1st - ‘Mr Jackson’ by Mike Chandler. An image of a toad found in his garden among the house leeks.

2nd - ‘Gull’ by Stanley Partridge. An image of a rather dishevelled gull having just bathed but with a bright and fearsome eye.

3rd - ‘West Shore Maelstrom’ by Alistair Henderson. A seascape with a golden sunset and waves crashing onto rocks.

These images and the winners of past competitions can be seen on the Photographic Society’s website at:

The next meeting follows a break for the holiday period and is a social on January 10, 2013, before returning to regular business on January 17 with a show ‘NZ North Island’ by Andrew West.

Images will also be submitted for the fourth monthly competition.
