The St Combs Walk Social was held in the ‘Kirkie’ on Friday, February 10, 2012.
The Praise was led by the Peterhead Kedron Male Voice Gospel Choir, conducted by Mr Walter Brown, and accompanied by Mr Robert Baird.
The social night also featured performances from North East performers, with guests Jim and Moira Given from Macduff and Pauline Buchan from Fraserburgh entertaining the members of the Walk Committee.
James Bruce reported on the event that Tim Barker, the locum for Lonmay and Crimond Churches led the opening and closing devotions and gave an excellent address.
The evening was dedicated to the late Andrew May and William Buchan, two past members of the Walk Committee.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the youngest member of the committee, Eric John Buchan, which closed the enjoyable night, with refreshments of tea being served to those in attendance..
The St Comb’s social is held after the temperance walks in Inverallochy, Cairnbulg and St Combs, which honours the local men lost in the wars.
This year, record numbers turned out to the walk on boxing day, in part due to the relatively calm weather for the period.
The procession was led by the traditional flute band, of which there were 50 members including 15 new players.
