Broch Boxing Day swim for RNLI

Fraserburgh Lifeboat’s annual Boxing Day swim will have taken place yesterday, following weeks of preperation by the crew and volunteers.

The event, which has become an annual spectacle for the town will see local men and women brave the wintry weather and take a plunge into Fraserburgh’s harbour for a brief, chilly swim.

For more information on the swim, and to donate, contact the station on 01346 515162, or email fraserburgh@rnli.org.uk The fifth annual Boxing Day swim is in support of the RNLI’s SOS fundraising appeal.

More than £9,000 was raised by the swimmers and supporters of the appeal last year, with organisers hopeful that this year would see even more raised in aid of the lifesaving work of the RNLI.

In total, 34 volunteers took to the waters and over 100 people came out to cheer them on in the Boxing Day event last year.

The funds raised from the event went towards the annual SOS appeal and new life jackets for the Fraserburgh Lifeboat crew.
