Community councillor John Lovegrove has hailed the success of Fraserburgh’s Super Saturday event, hailing its effect on the community.

Speaking to us this week, the long-serving community councillor told us that he was pleased to see people out supporting the town.

“I’m very pleased with the Super Saturday, it was brilliant,” he told us.

This month’s Super Saturday event had been farming themed, offering insight into the industry and its impact on Fraserburgh and district. As well as the history lessons offered, various stalls offered local goods and crafts to be enjoyed.

“There were families out and plenty of shops there. It was good to see the community out supporting the Broch,” Mr Lovegrove added.

Mr Lovegrove, an avid fan of Irish songster Daniel O’Donnell, was also pleased with the choice of music at the event, proclaiming that he enjoyed listening to the ‘I Just Wanna Dance With You’ singer last Saturday.

Each Super Saturday event, which takes place monthly, sees Fraserburgh’s town centre transformed into a hive of activity, with stall holders and local businesses embracing a designated theme. Next month’s event, themed ‘food and drink’, takes place on Saturday, September 13.
