Fraserburgh Junior Arts Society will be holding auditions for parts in their production of musical Sunshine on Leith next week.

Taking place at the Dalrymple Hall and Arts Centre on Tuesday, February 9 at 7.30pm, the society is looking for males and females of Academy to retirement age to take part.

The production will be directed by Craig Roger, who said: “This show captures the essence of Scotland, and the Proclaimers’ great songs make this a great show to see and be in.

“We look forward to seeing our talented local people at the auditions.”

Sunshine on Leith was written by River City creator Stephen Greenhorn and first produced by Dundee Rep Theatre with arrangements by Hilary Brooks.

It has enjoyed a series of runs at Dundee Rep before three UK tours and subsequently adapted into a film starring Jane Horrocks and Peter Mullen.

The tale revolves around two young squaddies as they return to life in Edinburgh after a serving in war-torn Afghanistan. The score features hit songs from Scottish band The Proclaimers such as ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)’, ‘I’m On My Way’, and ‘Letter from America’.
