‘The Full Monty’ Scottish Premiere at HMT

In 1997, a British film about six out of work Sheffield steelworkers who had nothing to lose but their clothes, took the world by storm.

And now, they’re back, live on stage. Rediscover the six men, their wives and their children and what they had to do at hold it all together.

Oscar winning writer Simon Beaufoy has adapted his smash hit film for the stage and this brand new production will have its Scottish premiere at His Majesty’s Theatre from Tuesday – Saturday, March 19 to 23 as part of a major UK tour.

Tickets go at sale to APA Friends on Wednesday, June 6, and to the general public on Friday, June 8, online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre.

The Full Monty’s Simon’s first work for the theatre. His screen credits include 127 Hours, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and Slumdog Millionaire which earned him an Oscar, Golden Globe and a BAFTA.

He said: “Without Sheffield, there would be no Full Monty. It’s been a long road – via Hollywood - but finally the characters are coming back home to the place where it all started. Or to put it another way, we are all genuinely chuffed to bits!”

Aberdeen Performing Arts head of programming Ben Torrie said it was a real coup to be able to host the Scottish premier of The Full Monty at His Majesty’s Theatre.

“There is no doubt Simon Beaufoy is a brilliant writer – as his recent successes with Slumdog Millionaire and Salmon Fishing in Yemen have proved – and we are confident his new play will be as popular as the original movie which is one of the best-loved British films of all time.

“We expect tickets to take off when they go on sale next week, after all The Calendar Girls has always been a sell out show with Aberdeen audiences - and now it’s the turn of the lads!”
