Over 50 people turned up to express an interest in the newly re-started Fraserburgh Musical Society at their open meeting last week.

The interest has now guaranteed that the group will be putting on a show next year.

Brian Adams will be directing the show, was ecstatic about the reaction. He said: “We had a fantastic turnout to get the society back on its feet, with over 50 people filling the room.”

It is yet to be decided what show will be put on, but Mr Adams added that the variety in ages at the meeting has opened up the amount of plays that can be considered.

It is expected that auditions will take place in November ahead of a March debut next year; final dates are still to be confirmed.

The group are currently looking for a musical director. Norman Robertson, who has been a musical director in the group’s past, is heading up the search.

They are looking for someone who can work with the choral section to ensure harmonies are correct as well as conduct the show’s live music. Interested parties should contact Mr Robertson on 01346 513947 or message the group’s Facebook page to express their interest.
