Two hot new shows – one a dance Scottish premier and the other blockbusting disco musical – have been announced by Aberdeen Performing Arts for His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen.
They are the world premiere tour of Jasmin Vardimon’s hotly anticipated new work, Freedom for one night only on Monday, October 29 and Disco Inferno, starring Eastenders star and Dancing on Ice winner Sam Attwater, which will be staged at the city centre theatre for three days from Thursday, August 30.
Tickets for both shows go at sale to APA Friends on Friday, June 29, and to the general public the following Monday, July 2, online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre.
An award-winning choreographer and Sadler’s Wells associate artist, Jasmin Vardimon’s new full-length dance theatre production explores notions of what keeps our imagination free and promises breathtaking physicality with beautifully detailed characterisation.
Freedom will be performed by a versatile company of international dancers fusing clever animation with live action and inventive set designs.
Now a major force on the international dance theatre scene, Jasmin Vardimon Company has enjoyed repeated sell-out success at London’s Sadler’s Wells, across the UK and internationally.
Part of the DanceLive festival, the October date is the company’s HMT debut and the performance is the Scottish premier of Freedom.
Alongside Sam, Disco Inferno also stars actress Dani Harmer – known to many as TV’s Tracy Beaker – and singer Javine Hylton who represented the UK at Eurovision Song Contest in 2005.
The musical tells the story of ambitious and talented hopeful Jack (Sam Attwater) who strikes a ’Faustian’ style pact to trade his soul for international success as a pop star.
The show features more than 30 classic hits from the 70s for a disco night to remember.
