The development will take place on a 5 acre site at South Harbour Road opposite the town’s Lidl and Argos stores.

The firm behind the development, which will be called the Portside Quays Business Park, is owned by local businessmen Colin Smith and George West. The first phase of the development will include business units that will be made available for lease, along with a two-storey office building.

A spokesman for the developer said: “This is the biggest commercial development in Fraserburgh for at least a decade. The plans include modern offices and business units that will be available for lease.

The firms we are speaking to are major employers, so the development could create a significant number of new jobs which is a fantastic news story for Fraserburgh and Aberdeenshire as a whole.”

The plans also include state-of-the-art national headquarters and seafood centre of excellence for the Scottish White Fish Producers Authority (SWFPA). This project has been a long-held ambition for Fraserburgh and will teach skills, training and employment for local people, in particular school and

college leavers who are looking to take up a career in the fishing industry.

The second phase of the development is currently being marketed and could contain a mix of uses such as a potential fast food outlet, a retail store, and commercial storage space.

The developer’s spokesman added, “We are a local company dedicated to investing in Fraserburgh to ensure the

town has a bright future.”

It is hoped that construction could commence before the end of the year subject to gaining planning permission so the new business park can open in 2021.
