Last year’s event was axed in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, and now a decision has been made that the 2021 edition, which was to be the 30th time it had been held, will also not be going ahead.

James Gray, one of the long-standing organisers, said: “We are all extremely disappointed not only for ourselves but also the community and owners of the exhibits, but we must abide by the rules.

"Furthermore, there is no indication as to when the host location, the Fraserburgh Leisure Centre will be able to fully reopen.

"We don’t know what the future holds for the Fraserburgh Vintage Car Rally, we’ll have to wait and see.”

The rally has recently had two seats installed in Fraserburgh thanking the NHS.

One is located on Strichen Road beside the war memorial and Garden of Remembrance, while the other is near the lighthouse.

A ‘Fraserburgh Vintage Car Rally’ seat has also been installed at the children’s play area in Rathen.

Over the years, the rally has made donations totalling over £300,000 to various groups and organisations.

Last year’s cancellation meant donations were severely restricted, but some were made towards the end of the year and a further donation will be made to Fraserburgh Hospital.
