Karen Gibson, who runs the Karen Gibson Dance School in Fraserburgh, obtained a Level 3 Mat Pilates Diploma recently. Karen is now offering pilates and body sculpting pilates classes in the Broch.

Commenting, Karen said: “I took the course in Edinburgh over a year, which is a Level 3 Mat Pilates Diploma qualification. This will add to the Level 2 Exercise to Music qualification I gained in 2006.

“After doing this qualification, I have a new outlook on fitness with more knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

“Pilates improves posture and strengthens core muscles. By improving posture, core strength and endurance this relieves back, shoulder and other aches and pains.

“It is also great for toning your body whilst looking after your joints, focussing on correct body alignment.

I am doing four traditional pilates classes and one body sculpting pilates class (morning and evenings).

“I really enjoy pilates, it is very different from previous exercise classes I have done but I am glad I put in the work and study to gain my Level 3 qualification.

“Local physiotherapists have also been recomending my pilates classes to their clients which is fantastic.

“As far as I know, I am the only instructor teaching this type of class in Fraserburgh,” she added.
