Cheers Bar in Fraserburgh has hailed its recent Halloween fancy dress competition as a huge success.

The popular venue’s annual fancy dress contest once again attracted a host of fantastic entries - with the winner being chosen via social media.

Thousands of votes were cast and there were tens of thousands of views on Cheers Bar’s Facebook page as North-east residents ‘Liked’ their favourite pictures of the entrants to determine the winner.

This year’s fancy dress winner was the brilliant Kim Brown with 535 votes - the most votes ever cast in a Cheers competition.

Our second and third place winners were neck and neck for most of the week, but in the last day or so it was Kerry Twycross who nudged ahead to take runner-up position with 469 votes with her excellent Medusa costume. Kerry came fourth last year.

Erin Thomson and Brogan Deans were third with 421 votes.

The prizes were: 1st £150; 2nd £100; and 3rd £50.

Commenting, Cheers Bar proprietor Dennis Forsyth said: “Thanks to everyone who entered to make this such a great competition.

“A special thanks to Dawn Russel for taking the photos and preparing them for our album plus to Julie Davidson and Amanda Smith her very able helpers!”
