The Fraserburgh and District Men’s Probus Club met on Wednesday, October 8, in the South Church Hall, Fraserburgh, where Jack Thom was on door duty.
The club’s first speaker was James Main who gave a talk on the 1966 riots in Hong Kong. This was very interesting due to the similarity of the riots taking place there today.
The next speaker was Andrew West who gave a presentation on a recent holiday to Singapore and also showed a number of slides of Fraserburgh in the past. The members enjoyed both items and there was lots of discussion about how Fraserburgh was then and what it is like now.
The vote of thanks for both speakers was given by Neil Robertson.
The next meeting of the Probus Club in on Wednesday, October 22, when their speaker will be Catherine McConnell who will give a talk on “Conserving Aberdeenshire Heritage”.
