On Wednesday, April 9, the Men’s Probus Club visited the Shell Gas Terminal at St Fergus.
This had been arranged by John McRobbie through his son John Jnr who is a Brent Operation Manager there.
The members arrived at the site by bus where they underwent a thorough security check before entering the terminal.
They were taken to a conference room where, courtesy of Shell, they enjoyed sausage rolls, sandwiches and cakes with tea or coffee.
Mr Mike Brooks, Production Co-ordinator gave the introductory talk and along with Mr Dave Mathers, Operations Day Supervisor, they proceeded by bus on a tour of the site where all the important areas were pointed out and explained. From there, they visited the control room.
Bill Michie thanked the representatives of Shell for their hospitality and the in-depth insight into the function of the plant etc. The group returned to Fraserburgh by bus and all were agreed on how much they enjoyed the outing.
The next meeting is on Wednesday, April 23, when the club will be visiting Fraserburgh Lighthouse Museum.
Probus members are asked to meet at the Museum at 10am.
