Cheers Cafe Bar and Tavern is to continue its recent success with the development of its outside area into a refurbished inside space.

The new area will see the left-hand side of Cheers’ outside area transformed into a 70-cover lounge.

The extension will include bi-fold glass windows which will open completely in the good weather.

The development, complete with new flooring and furnishings, will create a flexible space and will cater for private parties and children’s events.

The extension will be the first major works to take place at Cheers since the large outside area was re-developed at the end of 2012.

Commenting, Cheers proprietor Dennis Forsyth said: “The typical Fraserburgh climate doesn’t lend itself to having an outside area all year round so building the bi-fold windows allows us to close the entire area and completely shelter it from adverse conditions.

“This will allow people to enjoy the alfresco experience in the summer but be inside in the winter.

“Our new furnishings will be more comfortable for our diners and accommodate more people.”

The area will become non-smoking after the renovation but there will still be a sheltered area that will accommodate 120 people. There will be wheelchair access to the new lounge as well.

Work on the development is due to start imminently.
