Around 70 hanging baskets are to be put up throughout Fraserburgh by local businesses, adding to the blooms which have already been planted around the town.

As part of an ongoing Fraserburgh Forward Business Association project, Mr Charles West of C&A West on Charlotte Street went along to Fraserburgh North School to give the pupils a master class in planting hanging baskets.

With their new skills, the North School pupils set to work with the help of Charles West and Community Garden volunteer and organiser Bill Matthew to plant up the town’s hanging baskets for 2014.

The plants have been nurtured and watered by the pupils with the help of Bill and FFBA Chairperson Gillian Bain who coordinated the project.

Warehouse staff at Maitland’s will ensure they are all hung throughout the town from College Bounds all the way to the Harbour.

John Clark, Projects Officer at Community Payback, has liaised with the FFBA on this project and a watering system will be maintained to ensure the baskets remain healthy during the summer.
