Aberdeen gin distillers have taken home gold at prestigious international awards,

Porter’s Gin, which was launched in January 2016, received its latest accolade last week, winning a gold medal in the highly competitive best London Dry Gin category.

Since launching seven months ago, the Scottish premium gin has already sold over 10,000 bottles, has been featured in Vogue magazine and can be found across the UK in retailers such as Harvey Nichols. Porter’s, which was created by three friends and multi-award winning industry professionals, Ben Iravani, Josh Rennie and Alex Lawrence, was brought to life after they realised their common passion to create a unique and innovative style of gin.

Now in its 47th year, the IWSC seeks to reward excellence in wines and spirits worldwide, recognising quality and taste of products.

Co-founder of Porter’s Gin, Ben Iravani, said: “We are very proud of our gin and have always known that it tasted great, but to be recognised in a leading international competition is an unbelievable achievement for us. This award speaks volumes for the hard work we have put into developing Porter’s, and validates our innovative fusion of traditional and state of the art distilling techniques used to create Porter's unique taste profile"

“We are confident that we’ve created a delicious product carefully distilled to work in classic cocktails whilst still able to stand out from the crowd in a traditional gin and tonic. This flexibility has proven extremely popular with industry mixologists and with gin lovers alike, with Porter's already found in many of the world's best bars.”

Ewan Lacey, IWSC managing director, commented: “The significant growth of new entries over the last few years are testament to the continuing advancement and innovation of our entrants. An increase of 200% in Gin entries since 2013 reflects the boom in the category worldwide and we are delighted that producers continue to choose the IWSC to benchmark and promote their products.”

Following this achievement, Porter’s Gin is looking to accelerate its entry into the international market and is currently in discussion with several potential partners for worldwide distribution.
