Cheers Cafe Bar and Tavern were celebrating this month with news that two of their staff have become associate members of the British Institute of Innkeepers.
Designated premises manager Morgan Buchan and bar supervisor Shona McRobbie both became associated members of the Institute, joining Cheers’ owner Dennis Forsyth as members.
Mr Forsyth, himself, becoming a Fellow of the Institute. Prior to the appointment, Mr Forsyth had been a member of the British Institute of Innkeepers for 12 years.
The staff will now be looking ahead to November, when they will discover if they have won Scottish Licensed Trade News awards this year.
Cheers are competing in three finals categories, for best quality beer, the social responsibilities award and, for a second consecutive year, best smoking facilities.
The ‘Oscars’ of the licensed trades will be held at the Glasgow Hilton, with Cheers Cafe Bar and Tavern leading the way for Aberdeenshire establishments.
In what has already been a good September for the Broad Street bar, outdoors renovation work has progressed steadily, hosting a grand opening of the beer garden earlier this month.
