A ST Combs woman is still in the running to win a £10,000 grant courtesy of Avon’s ‘Hello Tomorrow Fund 2011’.
Competing with five other finalists from across the country, local woman Belle Turner is now calling on local people to vote online for her inspirational project so that she can help improve the lives of women living in Aberdeen.
As Avon celebrates its 125th anniversary, the company’s commitment to improving women’s lives remains as strong as ever.
Through its Avon Hello Tomorrow Fund, which is now in its third year, the beauty giant will be donating a total of £30,000 to grass root charities which help to create a better tomorrow for women in the UK.
Single mother and fully trained lawyer Belle hopes to launch a website with women’s charity Cheer Trust to empower women to better the lives of themselves and their children. The site will offer comprehensive practical and specialist legal advice at no cost and is aimed to show single mothers how to deal with difficult decisions faced as a lone parent.
The 2011 shortlist was chosen by a high profile judging panel of leading UK female role models, including: group vice-president of Avon WEMEA, Anna Segatti; editor of Glamour magazine, Jo Elvin; business entrepreneur, Karren Brady and TV presenter, Claudia Winkleman.
Anna Segatti commented: “Belle’s inspirational initiative really stood out within the applications we received this year. For 125 years, Avon has been committed to improving society by empowering women.
“We’re extremely excited to be offering another £30,000 to give local women’s charities the financial boost they need to create a better tomorrow for women across the UK.”
Belle added: “I’m delighted to be a finalist for Avon’s Hello Tomorrow Fund 2011! The £10,000 grant from Avon would make a real difference to the Cheer Trust, and will enable us to offer women practical and specialist legal advice at no cost. I ask local people to vote for our project now and help make my dream a reality.”
