Blessing of Animals service at St.Peter’s

This Sunday (June 26), during a shortened normal Service, there will be a Blessing of Animals at St.Peter’s Church, Charlotte Street.

Bishop Bob Gillies from Aberdeen will be presiding, and anyone who has a pet of any kind is invited to come along and have the pet blessed.

The intention is to highlight the fact that animals, birds etc., are all God’s creatures, as well as to recognise the joy and richness that pets bring to our lives.

This is worth celebrating. Children can even bring their Teddy bear, or other cuddly toy, if they like! “Not too many live elephants, though, please”, says Jim Thomson, priest in charge at St. Peter’s.

After the Service there’s a barbecue (for the humans only, unfortunately), though pets can watch!

This Service (and barbecue) is open to all.

It should be fun, and it’ll be a nice outing for the pets too! The Service begins at 11am.
