The talented local youths of Inferno Fire Troop who wowed the crowds in the Broch and Mintlaw at last years Fantasmagoria parades are now getting set to stun crowds in Aberdeen as they set the night alight at the prestigious International Youth Festival in July.
One of the members of Inferno told the Herald: “One of the officers of the International Youth Festival saw us preform in the Fantasmagoria parade.
“I guess he liked us so much that he and some of his colleagues met up with Dianne Marshall, who helps us out from time to time, and had asked if she would find out if we would like to preform in the Festival.”
The stunning talent recognised in the young Brochers comes within the first year of their formation.
The member continued: “We formed in July last year when Theatre Modo came to the Community Centre and explained what they were planning, we all took an interest in fire performance as soon as we heard about it.
“Initially we only performed with fire for Theatre Modo projects but after a few projects we wanted to carry on with it when Theatre Modo left the area.
The dedication and determination of the youths is admirable, the member added: “We meet up once a week at FRANRA and discuss fortcoming projects and practice when we have performances planned.
“Everyone’s really exited and looking forward to preforming in the festival. As each week passes, we’re coming up with new, better moves and ideas for our routine.
“We are all really looking forward to meeting all the other performers from around the world and feel really privileged to be given this opportunity.”
Aberdeen International Youth Festival starts on Wednesday July 27 until August 7 show casing the best youth talent from around the world. Inferno will be performing from July 29 until July 31.
