A Fraserburgh man has escaped with minor injuries following an explosion outside his home on the town’s Charlotte Street.
Douglas Sandison was dragged to safety by his former neighbour, Darren Dimmick, who had been helping Mr Sandison to clear out his belongings.
The incident is believed to have happened at around 2.15pm on Sunday, December 21, when a motorbike exploded in Mr Sandison’s shed at the back of his property.
Mr Dimmick had went inside to make coffee when he heard a loud bang. He then went back outside to Mr Sandison’s rescue and called the emergency services. Fire crews arrived at the scene to tackle the blaze and paramedics attended to Mr Sandison, who is thought to be in his 40s. He was then taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Charlotte Street was partially closed for around two hours. Police Scotland also confirmed that four properties were evacuated following the explosion.
