Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 760 Aberdeen Angus sired store cattle and Native breed cattle on Tuesday earlier this week.
Aberdeen Angus bullocks (438) averaged 244.1p (+43.1p on the year) and sold to 272.2p per kg for a pen of three 496kg from Midtown of Haddo, Inverkeithny and £1,500 gross for a pair of 620kg from Stemster Mains, Wick.
Aberdeen Angus heifers (230) averaged 230p (+49p on the year) and sold to 244.2p per kg for a pair of 432kg from Goval Cottage, Rothienorman and £1,190 gross for a pen of four 500kg from Bankhead, Lumphanan.
Other Native Breed bullocks (87) averaged 210.8p and sold to 249p per kg for a pen of four 480kg Shorthorn crosses from Myres, Widewall, South Ronaldsay and £1,400 gross for a 644kg Shorthorn cross from Home Farm, Maryculter.
Other Native Breed heifers (27) averaged 229.8p and sold to 237.1p per kg for a 464kg Shorthorn from Heatheryfield, Cairnie and £1,230 gross for a 526kg Shorthorn cross from Mountpleasant, South Ronaldsay.
In the annual Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society sponsored show and sale judged by Mr Stuart Maitland, Smithyhill, Rosehearty. Overall champion was a 18 month old 604kg bullock from R Flett & Co, Howan, Dounby and sold for £1,500 to D & V Buchan, Savoch, Longside.
Reserve champion was 16 month old 608kg bullock from G & D Coghill, Stemster Mains, Wick which realised £1,450 and sold to Emslie Partners, Little Barras, Fordoun
In the Shorthorn and Native Breed show sponsored by Morrisons Championship was awarded to pair of 532kg Shorthorn bullocks from Marwick Bros, Redland, Stromness which realised £1,280 and sold to the judge.
