All tourism businesses and events organisers are invited to attend an Accessible Tourism workshop later this month.
The workshop is being held on Tuesday, February 17, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Thistle Aberdeen City Centre, The Caledonian Hotel in Aberdeen.
The workshop is being organised by VisitScotland and Chris McCoy, VisitScotland’s Diversity and Equality Manager, who will introduce the event with an introduction to Accessible Tourism and its growth potential.
Many visitors have access needs whether or not related to a disability, for example, older people, people with mobility problems and families with young children have specific needs and requirements that often make taking a holiday a stressful and time-consuming task.
It is hoped the Accessible Tourism workshop in Aberdeen will go some way to understanding these customers’ needs so firms and organisers can provide the right information and customer service, thereby making it easier for visitors to enjoy Scotland and unlocking potential business opportunities.
Fraserburgh Area Tourism Group hopes local businesses will take up this offer and find out how they can provide a better experience and warmer welcome to visitors with accessibility needs.
