New managing partner for accountancy firm

An award winning accountancy firm has announced the appointment of a new managing partner.

Robert Bain is to take on the role of managing partner at Hall Morrice, which has bases in Fraserburgh and Aberdeen.

The managing partner role is a newly created one for the firm and reflects Hall Morrice’s strategy to develop the practice in terms of client numbers, service offerings, staff and revenue. The firm’s medium term plan is to grow the practice from its current staff count of nearly 55 to 70 across its sites in Aberdeen and Fraserburgh.

Robert, or Bob as he is also known, joined Hall Morrice as a graduate trainee from the University of Aberdeen in 1987, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the company in 1990. He went on to form his own practice in 1994, qualify as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1996 and later merging his practice with Hall Morrice in 1997, assuming the role of partner. His expertise lies in the energy sector and in particular his insight into owner-managed businesses.

Senior partner Hugh Hall commented: “A loyal, trusting and supportive team approach underpins everything we do at Hall Morrice and the creation of the position of managing partner will help us to continue achieving this. The managing partner’s role is to help the other partners engage in the firm’s vision and Bob demonstrates this by providing the drive that helps the firm move forward toward meeting its goals.

“He has the ability to help all staff and partners strive to be the best at what they do, whether that is serving clients or developing the team. Bob has a fresh approach and is always looking for new ways to improve what the firm does.”

Bob’s appointment to the role of managing partner follows the recent announcement of a new partner and two new director level appointments within the chartered accountancy firm. Derek Mair was promoted to partner from his previous role as a director on April 1, while Des Petrie and Kelly Cumming took up the roles of Audit and Accounts Director and Business Advisory Director respectively from January 1. These appointments form part of the firm’s long term plan to expand and progress its team.

Commenting, Bob said: “My priorities as managing partner will be to implement the firm’s strategy and to develop and expand Hall Morrice’s strong client base. I am looking forward to working together with the team, growing the business and further developing our leading market position.

“I will also aim to keep building on Hall Morrice’s strong reputation for attracting and retaining top talent. My appointment as managing partner demonstrates that the firm creates an environment where individuals with ambition and talent can thrive.”

Hall Morrice, founded in 1976, is one of Scotland’s leading independent firms of chartered accountants and has offices in both Fraserburgh and Aberdeen. Hall Morrice can be contacted on 01224 647394 or at
