Councillor Brian Topping would like to thank everyone in Fraserburgh, the surrounding villages, offshore workers, pubs and cafe owners and employees, who have all kindly collected ring pulls and given them to him to pass on to the Prader Willi Syndrome Charity.

Cllr Topping explained: “The ring pulls were being collected to help a wee boy called Conor Whannell, who suffers from this rare genetic disorder.

“Over the years the ring pulls were taken in bulk to a scrap merchant who exchanged them for cash.”

He continued: “Unfortunately due to a change in policy the charity no longer operates in Scotland, so further ring pulls will not be required.

“However, these collections have made it possible to purchase special suits and wheel chairs, not just for Conor but also other children throughout Scotland.”
