Cheers Cafe Bar and Tavern have won yet another award after only recently winning one in October.
The bar was awarded the Cask Marque certificate of excellence for the quality of the real ales that they sell. Few licensed premises have been awarded this from Aberdeenshire.
The assessor came from Dunfermline to assess the establishment. Cheers is the first licensed premises in Fraserburgh to be awarded Cask Marque accredation and the staff who are delighted with the result.
The bar supervisor, Shona McRobbie who deals with the real ales and ensures they are kept at high quality is particularly pleased with the award.
Both real ales on offer were inspected by the assessor for temperature, appearance, aroma and taste. A maximum of 5 points are awarded for each with the top score being 20. Cheers scored 20/20 for every real ale which is a remarkable result from the assessor.
Owner of Cheers, Dennis Forsyth said:
“We are delighted to be the first in Fraserburgh to receive such a prestigious award.
“Full credit goes to the staff, particularly bar supervisor Shona McRobbie and Cellar technician, Norman Biers for ensuring our beers are always at a very high standard”.
All the staff have also undertaken the Cask Marque ‘Bar Excellence award’. This award is an on-line induction programme designed for both new and existing bar staff and delivers a consistent and clear training programme for bar staff and has been put together by drinks companies, retailers, legal experts and existing bar staff. The areas covered in the bar excellence course are: legal compliance, best practice in customer service and staff hygiene, perfect serve of all drinks categories and maintenance of bar equipment.
The bar is at the moment awaiting the results of a Best Bar None Assessment which is a national award.
