Cornerston SDS, in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council, is to host a series of events across the Shire to highlight the benefits of Self-Directed Support (SDS) and the independence it can allow.
To celebrate National SDS Week, which has been branded ‘SDS Blether Week’ and runs from Monday, June 13 to Friday, June 17, Cornerstone SDS and Aberdeenshire Council are holding free events throughout th eShire to raise awareness of Self-Directed Support.
It allows people, their carers and their families to make informed choices on what their support looks like and how it is delivered, making it possible to meet agreed personal outcomes.
Angi Wood, Cornerstone SDS Aberdeenshire service manager, said: “The introduction of SDS has given people a great deal of independence and helps them to shape the services and support they receive, tailoring them to their choice.
“We thought it would be a good idea to hold a series of informal events where people can drop in, chat about SDS, find out a little more about exactly what it is and how they can benefit from it, and what better time to do this than during National SDS Week.
“Please come and join us at any of our events, we look forward to seeing you there.”
The events will take place at the following locations:
Monday, June 13 (9am to 12 noon) - Chalmers Hospital, Banff.
Tuesday, June 14 (9am to 12 noon) - Community Centre, Banchory; 1-5pm Banchory, Social work office.
Wednesday, June 15 (1pm to 5pm) - Cornerstone SDS office, 25 High Street, Inverurie.
Thursday, June 16 (9am to 12 noon) - Family Centre, Inverurie.
