A 22-year-old female was arrested for assault in Fraserburgh over the weekend as police carried out operations in Peterhead and Fraserburgh over the weekend.
The Community Policing Teams along with the Divisional Violence Reduction Unit carried out an operation involving over 60 licensed premises in Fraserburgh, Peterhead and the surrounding areas on Friday and Saturday night.
There were no reported assaults in Peterhead but five people were reported to the Pricurator Fiscal for drug possession between the two areas.
The 22-year-old female in Fraserburgh who was charged with assault will appear in court at a later date.
Sergeant Scott Massie said: “We have seen that over consumption of alcohol can lead to an increase in violence, including domestic abuse, disorder and anti-social behaviour.
“By making sure that licensed premises are complying with legislation and licensing objectives, we can ensure that alcohol fuelled incidents are minimised and that people in North Aberdeenshire enjoy a safe and fun evening.”
He added: ““During the upcoming weekend, which falls roughly around pay day for many, we anticipate a large number of people will be out socialising to enjoy the May Day public holiday.
“Again we will have officers on patrols at our licensed premises throughout North Aberdeenshire and I would encourage people to drink responsibly and consider the impact and implications of their behaviour on themselves and others.”
