Police appeal after series of house breakings

Officers in Peterhead are appealing for information following a number of break ins to properties and sheds in the central Buchan area.

Inspector George Coordiner of the Buchan Community Policing Team said: “Since the start of the year there has been a number of break ins and attempted break ins reported to us to rural buildings and businesses including in Strichen, Hatton and Mintlaw.

“Items have been stolen during some of the break-ins however all of the victims have obviously been inconvenienced and distressed as a result of the incidents.

“I would ask that if anyone sees suspicious activity or suspicious vehicles in their area to please call us immediately on 999 at the time, or on 101 if phoning retrospectively, with information including dates, times and descriptions.

“I would also remind business and home owners to remain vigilant with and make sure vehicles, businesses and homes are locked, particularly when unoccupied and remain vigilant to any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood.”
