Local policing officers in Peterhead have arrested eight people wanted on warrant during a targeted operation in the town.

Between Monday June 20 and Wednesday June 22 a team of officers from Peterhead Police Office carried out a Warrants Initiative, where they identified individuals who were wanted by Peterhead Court in relation to serious and violent crimes ranging from dishonesties to weapons offences. Enquiries were made to ensure these people were brought to court quickly.

Constable Sara Green, who led the operation, said: “This has allowed us to put these persons in front of the court, allowing the judicial process to move forward quickly.

“I want to reassure the Peterhead community that it is a priority for Officers to ensure that all offenders within our area are brought to justice quickly. Unfortunately, sometimes this is not possible for a variety of reasons and most commonly warrants are granted for suspects and witnesses alike for non-appearance. I would like to stress to anyone who is going through the court process that you are required to attend at the times and dates given to you and warn you that if you don’t a warrant will be issued.

“Should a warrant be issued for your arrest, we will make every effort to trace you and bring you to justice.”
