North East Liberal Democrat MSP Alison McInnes has welcomed news that Peek-A-Boo nursery in Fraserburgh has received “very good” evaluations in all five performance indicators from Education Scotland and all four gradings from the Care Inspectorate.

The report follows an inspection and outlines the nursery’s effort to self-evaluate to continuously improve the quality of education and care provided.

The report notes that staff are keen on involving children in making decisions of how facilities are used, such as the creation of a “bug hotel” in the nursery garden. Inspectors also noted that “a learning partnership is encouraged between home and nursery”.

Commenting, Mrs McInnes said: “I am very glad to see that Peek-A-Boo nursery’s approach to teaching has lead to a successful inspection by Education Scotland and the Care Inspectorate.

“It is important to find creative solutions to effectively care for children at such crucial age for their development.”

The MSP has written to Ms Nicola Watt, the manager of the nursery, to congratulate her, her staff, the children and parents.
