Fraserburgh Academy’s school band and choir are travelling to Ireland to take part in a three day concert tour next month.

Embarking on the 3rd of October, the school are also organising a gig in the Broch ahead of the trip.

There will be two shows on Tuesday, 29th of September: one at 2pm for school pupils and another for the public at 7pm.

Both performances will take place in the Fraserburgh Academy Hall and there will be a £4 entrance fee for the public show in the evening.

And there will be a prize raffle draw on the night.

All are welcome to attend and support the young musicians as they prepare for the tour.

The trip to Ireland will last from the 3rd to the 6th of October.

The band will be playing at the Laois School of Music on Sunday, 4th October.

The Irish music school played with the Fraserburgh pupils earlier in the year as they toured Scotland.

John Davidson is anticipating the chance to repay the hospitality.

He said: “We thoroughly enjoyed our concert trip to Fraserburgh in May and we are looking forward to the arrival of the Fraserburgh pupils and staff.

“The links and friendships we have made through music will stay with us.”

The Fraserburgh Academy Concert Band and Choir will also be performing recitals at local Laois primary schools on Monday, 5th October.

The trip is being lead by Music Teacher Suzanne Elrick and Depute Head Teacher Pauline Buchan and they are preparing the pupils for their travels.

The teachers wished to thank the parents and the community for their support.
