Pupils from New Pitsligo School have taken part in a sing-along to mark Remembrance Day.

P7/6 pupils from the school gathered at the village hall to sing a number of war-time songs with senior citizens from New Pitsligo.

The playlist for afternoon included ‘Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye’, ‘Long Way to Tipperary’ and ‘White Cliffs of Dover’.

After the sing-along the pupils were due to take part in a tea dance, with the village’s older residents taking the lead.

In the run-up to the tea dance, pupils and staff made poppy-themed cupcakes for the event.

In the evening, the pupils took part in a war-themed quiz, which the whole community was invited to attend. The proceeds from the quiz were going to be donated to Poppy Scotland.

In addition to the Remembrance events, the school itself was decorated with poppies and pupils planted crosses in the Remembrance garden.

Commenting, P7/6 class teacher Alyson Watson said: “I think it’s been really good because the whole school has been involved from the nursery right through to P7.

“We’ve involved the whole community - including the villagers, the church and the British Legion - and John Smith’s Bakery donated icing for our cupcakes.

“We do try as a school to be part of the community.”
