First and second year students on the Shell Engineering Scheme (SES) at Banff and Buchan College have recently been awarded Institute of Management Level 2 in Team Leading certificates.

The students are completing a two year course which was established in a partnership between Shell and the college.

The bespoke programme is designed to enable young people to access training that would allow them to enter the engineering jobs market of the energy sector.

The Management training delivered through ILM awards/certificates is a core element of the Shell Technician programme.

The ILM qualifications are designed as a foundation in the students’ development as supervisors and team leaders when they enter the workplace.

During the presentation of the awards, Fiona Birse, Sector Manager Business and the Arts, recognised the students’ hard work over the course of their programme and congratulated them on their achievement.

Fiona Birse said “The ILM Awards are a great opportunity for us to recognise all the hard work the students have done over the past year.

“The Shell Engineering Scheme is an intense course with a mix of practical and theoretical work which challenges the students and helps them to prepare for the world of work.”
