A Sandhaven children’s group are hoping to raise money after being selected to attend the Queen’s birthday celebrations this year.
Sandhaven Brownies have been allocated a number of the 250 tickets made available for the Trooping of the Colours at the Queen’s 90th birthday parade in London this June.
Pippa Stokes, who helps run and volunteers at the Sandhaven Brownies, said: “There was only 250 tickets available to Girlguiding UK which were donated by the Metropolitan Police.
We were amazed to be allocated the tickets and are overjoyed at the experience our Brownies will have if we get to go.”
The brownies are now looking to raise funds so they can attend the event in London - approximately 591 miles from Sandhaven.
Ms Stokes said: “The only problem is our funds are low and we would appreciate the support of anyone who would be willing to help us fundraise or give us ideas for this amazing event, we are holding a meeting tonight in our local hall The Sandhaven and Pitullie Public Hall at 6.30pm.
She added: “The travel costs will be in the thousands and accommodation will be expensive too, we only have just over 7 weeks and even less time to book to secure our trip.”
