Science event to be held for secondary pupils

As International Women’s Day approaches, girls at secondary schools across the North-east are being invited to aim for a career in science.

A one-day Women in Science: the next generation event will be held on Thursday, March 6, at the University of Aberdeen’s Elphinstone Hall on the King’s College campus, with the aim of inspiring pupils to follow in the footsteps of female pioneers who have made their mark in every branch of medicine, engineering and science.

Places are filling up quickly, but there is still time for secondary school science teachers to book for groups of up to eight S2/S3 pupils to take part in the day.

The science-based event is being organised by the University and supported by the European Commission.

Pupils will hear from inspirational female scientists working in the North-east and discuss opportunities and experiences with successful women from a diverse range of scientific backgrounds and careers.

Schools who have not already registered and would like to bring a party should email by Friday, February 21, or call 01224 272088.
