A Fraserburgh singer will play the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the third time this year when she takes her new Billie Holiday show to the capital.
Mary May will perform Billie is Blue at the world renowned arts festival, featuring the ballads of Billie Holiday.
Ms May said: “I’ve been doing her stuff for years now.
“She’s one of my favourites and I just love how she comes across.
“She’s one of the few singers who can put forward so much emotion.”
Ms May said her new show will only focus on the ballads of Billie Holiday.
She said: “It’s the really heart-wrenching stuff that you don’t get to play at normal gigs.
“It’s just something that I’ve wanted to do for years and it has been a big ambition.”
Ms May’s Festival Fringe shows will take place on Sunday August 7 and Thursday August 25 at the Jazz Bar on Chambers Street with both shows starting at 8.30 pm.
Mary May has been performing at jazz clubs and festivals across the country for the last 10 years and last year released This Is What You Are which is available on CD.
