Super Saturday is returning this month on June 14, with preparations for the fishing-themed event already well underway.
For the community event in June, there will once again be an array of stalls, entertainment and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Visitors will have the chance to learn about the history of Fraserburgh at the Heritage Centre’s stall; there will be net making demonstrations; and, for those considering a career in the fishing industry, North East Scotland College will have lots of information available in their mobile information unit.
Prepare to be amazed at how far the fishing has advanced through new technology and through the enterprise of North -east fishermen.
Take the opportunity to visit Fraserburgh Harbour, catch a glimpse of the Golden Horn Lighthouse at the Breakwater or take time to see Bruce the Ship Painter’s wall near the slipway – a piece of art 30 years in the making.
The RNLI will also be represented at June’s Super Saturday and visitors can go to the Memorial Statue and pay their respects to lost crew beside the Lifeboat Shed.
This month’s Super Saturday will also feature a host of local musical talent who will be coming along to sing and dance, with local DJ Alan Strachan compering the event.
The Super Saturday events offer fantastic opportunities to support and buy from producers throughout the North-east - whether it’s a fresh warm pancake made to order, the best of our local catches from our own coast line or quality meats - and this month’s event is no exception.
Produce will be available to buy from specialist stall holders who will be setting out their produce on Saltoun Square and Broad Street from 10am to 3.30pm.
If you would like to buy some traditional farmhouse cheeses (made only an hour and a half away from Fraserburgh), oatcakes, goat steaks or zesty homemade lemonade from Rosehearty, then this month’s Super Saturday is for you.
There will also be lots of Taste and Try stands and demonstrations with local restaurateurs and cooks using produce from the Broch’s food shops.
To complement the food offer, craft and gift stalls will be providing a host of special items for yourself or a friend.
For children, Balloon Mannie will be returning to Super Saturday, providing free balloon creations for younger visitors.
In addition, local shops and businesses will be supporting the event with special Super Saturday menus and lots of Super Saturday offers.
Fraserburgh’s Super Saturdays are taking place on the second Saturday of each month through to September and a special Festive-themed Super Saturday will be held on December 13.
The Fraserburgh Forward Business Association and Fraserburgh Development Trust have received strong support and encouragement from Aberdeenshire Council and the Council’s financial support has made these events possible for the town.
Organisers hope everyone has a fantastic time on June 14 and look forward to hearing your comments about what you enjoyed and would like to see added to future events.
