A North-east church is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated organist or pianist to lead their singing.
Gardenstown Church has made the appeal as both of the church’s current musicians are struggling to meet the demands of the role.
Commenting, session clerk and Sunday School leader George West said: “The church building was re-furbished in 2011 and is much better now for the services and activities going on.
“Some of those activities are for children and young people but we are also very mission orientated supporting various missions and medical/relief work abroad.
“Our Christmas appeal this year for example is to be split between our home based ‘Shelter’ young people’s group for a week away together and ‘Open Doors’, an organisation that provides support for Christians who are being persecuted and suffering all over the world from Syria to North Korea and many places in between.”
Mr West continued: “Unfortunately our present musicians are struggling at the moment.
“One has a physical ailment that prevents them from playing and our only other organist has come out of retirement in his late 80’s to help us.
“We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated musician that can play the organ or piano, preferably both, to lead our singing. The folks here do like to sing!”
The position is part-time and flexible and anyone interested should contact Rev. Donald Martin on 01261 851256.
