Hairdresser at cutting edge fashion show

A hairdresser with her roots in the Broch has been styling for award-winning designers and rubbing shoulders with the stars at London Fashion Week.

Rebecca Carr, of Rebecca Carr Hair Salon, Kintore, was invited to the world-renowned ‘session team’ helping models get runway ready at the event, which ranks alongside New York, Paris and Milan as one of the ‘big four’ fashion weeks.

Among the designers she worked with were Brit Billie Jacobina who won Fashion Scout’s One to Watch for Spring/Summer 2017; and Azzalia, a luxury Emirati brand.

Rebecca was one of only two Scottish hairdressers. She said: “I worked on six different shows, each completely different in style. I did some celebrity spotting and ran into Tiny Tempah, Emma Willis, Caprice and sat next to Mark Francis from Made in Chelsea.”

Designers Rebecca styled for include Anissa Aida, Billie Jacobina, Azzalia, Dubai Design and Fashion Council, Happy Andrada and Fashion DNA:Pakistan.

The 30-year-old entrepreneur opened the doors of Rebecca Carr Hair Salon in Kintore a year ago and since has employed a team of eight and welcomed more than 2000 clients to the shop.

Rebecca said: “Our mission is to stay ahead of trends and techniques to ensure the North-East has access to the industry’s best. I’m excited to take what I’ve learned from London Fashion Week and make it accessible to clients.”

Rebecca’s career began in her early teens when she volunteered in a Fraserburgh salon on weekends. When she was 15 she started training with major salon Toni & Guy, taking only two and a half years to become fully qualified. She quickly moved up the ranks, and was a trainer at 17 and a style manager at 19.
